Speaking - Monologue

You are going to speak for 3-4 minutes about a topic. Remember to plan your monologue carefully.

These are some useful tips to prepare this part of the exam:

  • Create, in your mind, an outline of what you are going to talk about. Concentrate just on three or four of the items suggested.
  • Think of a way of introducing the topic.
  • Think of useful vocabulary related to the topic. If you cannot think of a word, use another one or just don't talk about that! (Unless you can use a dictionary)
  • When you finish preparing the structure for your speech, review your mental outline and try to think of specific information. May be references to your personal experience.
  • Think of a way of concluding the speech.

  • Read the title of the topic and the suggestions.
  • Choose one or more ideas to include in your monologue. You can add ideas of your own.
  • Talk about the topic for about 3-4 minutes.

  • Do you consider yourself fashionable?
  • Fashion magazines: your opinion.
  • Time you spend getting ready in the morning.
  • Dress-code in discos or clubs: your opinion.
  • Money you or your family spend on clothes.
  • Children's fashion: your opinion.
  • School uniform: yes or no?
